You don’t have to formally study art in school to be an artist, in fact many of the artisans that we feature here at Past Basket found something inspired and moved them to create. These self-taught artists, honing into life experience rather than hours spent in the classroom, are known as Folk Artists.
In addition to Folk Artists who are self-taught, we find American Artists who have been extensively trained to become masters in their craft. This creative guidance can be given through family, or a more formal apprenticeship with rigorous training.
An honest interpretation of everyday life, Folk Art and American Craft are fit for American homes, helping us dine and celebrate with history.
A note about our select artisans: Past Basket supports a variety of artisans. The items featured are not necessarily current stock. Stop in or call one of our friendly associates to learn more about our many American hand-made items, and how to place your special order. In some cases, limited availability may apply.
