CARING FOR YOUR LINENS
Proper care of your Peacock Alley linens will ensure a greater longevity. The indulgent luxury of Peacock Alley sheets will bring you endless nights of comfort.
Machine launder in cold water on the gentle cycle with a cold water rinse. Use a mild detergent without added bleach, whiteners or softeners. Do not use a liquid fabric softener. This can damage the cotton fibers.
Tumble dry on low heat. Remove sheets promptly to prevent wrinkling. If desired press linens while slightly damp on the reverse side of the fabric using a steam iron on the hot/warm setting.
Certain facial creams and body lotions contain ingredients such as peroxide, bleaching agents, oils or acids. Some of these agents may cause discoloration upon laundering.
All natural fibers will shrink to some extent. You can expect about 3% shrinkage with Egyptian cotton. To minimize shrinkage, avoid hot water washing and high heat drying. Never over-dry your linens.
CARING FOR YOUR MATELASSE
Matelasse French for “quilted” or “cushioned”, and in usage with fabric, refers to quilted textiles. Peacock Alley’s matelasse fabrics are woven on jacquard looms in Portugal and Italy.
Crafted with the finest quality materials and workmanship, your Peacock Alley matelasse is designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
Many of Peacock Alley matelasses are machine washable. If you choose to launder your matelasse at home, machine wash cold on a delicate or gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Avoid using any harsh detergents or bleach. Tumble dry your matelasse on low or using the air feature on your dryer. High heat can cause excessive shrinkage.
If you choose to have your matelasse professionally laundered, ask your cleaner for a “cold water block process”, which will help retain the matelasses size and shape.
Please dry clean any matelasse that contains a linen blend
All natural fibers will shrink to some extent. Peacock Alley coverlets are generously cut to allow for a normal shrinkage of 3 to 5 inches in length and width. Our 100 Egyptian cotton matelasses is all natural and slight variations in color and texture arise during weaving and dyeing. These variations lend beauty and character which is the perfection of matelasse.
