Calaisio artisans, who reside and work in remote villages in the South Pacific, hand-make all of their products. The vines they use to construct them — called “vignes d’eau” or water-vines — only grow in remote mountain jungles and are very difficult to reach and challenging to harvest. However, once reaped, the vines grow back quickly, leaving no damage in their native forests. Earnings from weaving help lift Calaisio artisans and their villages out of subsistence living, and provide them with better food, health care and transportation.
Edward's solid bird's-eye maple cutting boards are unlike any you've seen. Each board is crafted by joining sections from a single piece of specially selected, figured bird's-eye maple, so the wood tone and figuring are consistent throughout. Each is precision-shaped and beveled for graceful shape and balance. Individually hand-sanded and finished to a sensual silkiness, each board is an art object designed to add aesthetic and utilitarian pleasure to your daily life.

We believe in upcycling – taking logs that are discarded, and making something beautiful out of them. Normally, local tree service companies would get rid of, chip up or make firewood out of decaying logs – and that’s where we come in. We embrace the natural decomposition that gives each of our wooden serving boards and bowls a distinctive character. We proudly use woods local to central New England: the Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont forests are a rich resource.

What was once a one-man show has evolved into a two-generation family business that shines internationally while still keeping true to the heart and roots of the business.
